27th April 2022. Di Underwoods report to AGM

“Since October our numbers have stayed static, but I am hoping that they might pick up when the warmer weather arrives, as I did have a few not train on Thursdays as it was too cold for them. I am hoping that the Vet camp will allow us to move back indoors.

Liam, Amy and Miles started the racing off in November taking part in the flood light races in Leicester. All of the athletes always finished in the top 4.

Next set of races were the County cross country champs. I their respective races Miles finished 2nd, Megan 5th and Jamie 12th. Megan went on to get her County vest running for Leicestershire in the Inter counties at Prestwold. Unfortunately Miles had a swimming commitment so was unable to run.

In the schools county champs Lucy finished 15th which lead to her being a reserve for Leicestershire schools national champs.

Two of our younger athletes Josh and Ben ran for Leicestershire Primary schools and Ada ran for Rutland.

Our athletes have also competed in the Santa run, Ivanhoe challenge and the Thrussington fun run.

The track and field started in April and considering it was the first race of the season there was some very good results. The best result was done by Jamie who knocked 15seconds of his pb which took him under 5mins which is good result although I don’t think I convinced him that it won’t always happen.

4 of our juniors competed for their school in the national biathlon. Dan was 25th, Chloe was 24th Amy finished 4th, but her brother Miles finished 1st which made him a national champion. We know it was a swimming and running competition but we will take it for the club.

Finally I would like to mention the monumental effort that the kids put in as part of the run for Ukraine. I was away at the time however Richard and Ian got it organised and Ian even did a spreadsheet !!! I was only there for the last training session and Jamie tracked the session on his watch and when the training session ended they kept running until they completed 6k we are so proud of them.

At this point I would like to thank Ian and Richard for their help and support and I look forward to the next 12 months.”
