Wednesday club runs (autumn/winter)

Our main group run every week, during the autumn and winter months, takes place on a Wednesday at 7pm from Melton’s King Edward VII Sports Centre.

We have a few main routes that we use most weeks – more detail, maps and GPS links are on the “Routes” page of the website. We tend to congregate from around 6.45pm onwards. Members are welcome to use the changing facilities and stay for a drink afterwards in the Rugby Club bar.

These group runs are suitable for all abilities. We are committed to ensuring that at each of the regular Melton club road runs there will be an experienced Strider who knows the route running around 5 miles at the pace of the slowest in order to guide the group and ensure that no runner is left behind. This operates on a rota system so that we all know in advance who is doing it each week.

In addition, every 3 weeks or so, we have an alternative head torch outrun. These are intentionally a bit tougher than the usual road route in Melton, taking in plenty of hills and mud – come prepared!  See here for more details.

Finally, we also have an optional structured session every few weeks. These start alongside the usual group run in Melton and are suitable for all abilities, helping everyone to train with a bit more focus and improve their speed – whatever their starting point.

Therefore – whether you want a steady group run every week, or would like to alternate so that every 3 weeks you have one group run, one head torch run and one structured session – we’ll have something for everyone on a Wednesday over the autumn and winter months.
