At Stilton Striders, we like to help runners develop and improve their running in a friendly and supportive way. As well as doing this for our current members, we have developed an 8 week 5k – 10k programme to give 5k runners the opportunity to join us on our club running nights. You might already run a regular 5k, like parkrun, or be struggling to find motivation to get out mid-week – hopefully this programme will help you continue your running journey.
Over the 8 week programme, our UK Athletics qualified Run Leaders and Coaches will help you improve the way you run, as well as increasing the distance to 10k in a safe and considered way. Each weekly session will last ~1 hour and will include a warm-up, technique development, running and cool down.
When & where
The programme sessions will take place in parallel to our standard club night, each Wednesday at 7pm, beginning on the 25th September. The programme will run for 8 weeks up to, and including 13th November. The start and finish location will be the well equipped Melton Sports Village on Burton Road (LE13 1DR), from which we will head out on local, quiet roads.
On the final Wednesday of the programme (13th November) we will head out for a steady 10k run as a group to complete the 5k – 10k programme! We’ll be with you to support you.
To help make sure this programme is right for you and not too much or too little, our only requirements are:
– You need to be able to run 5k in less than 40 minutes.
– You won’t have run a distance of greater than 10 miles in one go within the last year.

On completion of the 5k – 10k plan, we are really pleased to offer you a reduced annual membership of £15 (Normally £30).
