Provisional Stilton 7 entry list
Now added to the Stilton 7 page is the provisional entry list. Transfers will be accepted through to the end of Thursday evening. There will be no entries available on the day.
We still have 5 unaffiliated runners who have not responded to an email request to confirm their LRRL club. We would remind all runners that the race is for LRRL club members only and without confirmation of the runner’s club, a race number cannot be issued.
Stilton 7 – race full
With a record entry of 500 runners, the Stilton 7 is now full. See you all on Sunday 26th!
Stilton 7 online entries
Further to our previous communications, the remaining 75 places in this year’s Stilton 7 will go on sale this Thursday evening at 9pm (16th February) . The link is as previously sent to LRRL clubs – we have been assured by RunBritain that the race is now appropriately listed and will allow runners without a UKA URN to enter (and tested this ourselves in order to confirm).
————————–
Apologies for the problems caused by Run Britain’s entry system this evening. Despite our best efforts it appears the system was not allowing athletes without a UKA URN to register. This was very much not the intention and we are looking urgently into why this has happened against our expectations. There has been massive demand and since the places were disappearing rapidly with non-affiliated athletes not able to enter, we took the decision to reduce the amount of entries to give us time to sort out this issue.
We have kept back around 75 places due to this issue (the race will likely be showing as full on RunBritain) and will investigate urgently how to fix the system. Details of how and when they will be available will be circulated as soon as we can.
Stilton 7 entry update
7 Jan 2017 – County XC Championships
A small group of Stilton Striders travelled to Burbage Common near Hinckley for the 91st Leicestershire and Rutland Cross Country Championships.
On a mild misty day with rain having fallen on the course overnight, the course was soft underfoot with some very muddy sections. Third race of the day was the under 20, senior and masters (over 35) women’s race and Natalie Teece had a fantastic run covering the advertised 6k (more like 4.3 miles) in 30 min 19 secs to claim a bronze medal in the masters category and 11th place overall. Natalie went on to celebrate by running an extra 10 mile training run after the race…
Final race of the day was the men’s under 20, senior and masters race over 10k (6.5 miles). First back for the Striders was Darren Glover (44 min 15 secs, 72nd overall, 26th in masters category), followed by Paul Geeson (after a parkrun in the morning, 46.32, 99th overall, 37th in category) and Nick Brown (46.50, 104th overall, 41st in category).
Great enjoyable event. [Darren]
2017 junior training
Junior training has now restarted for 2017 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (for more details see the juniors page). Relevant news updates will be posted on the juniors news page in due course. Either click the links above, or type “juniors” in the search bar.
Letters were also handed to all of the juniors at this week’s session requesting parents re-send their email addresses to Di (her contact details were on the letters), to ensure we have latest contact details together.
4 Jan 17 – Leicester City 5k race 3
On Wednesday evening a small group of Striders joined 56 runners in the 3rd round of the Victoria Park 5k winter series. This is a very friendly race around Victoria Park. First back for the men was Jason Barton in a great time of 17.10 (2nd place) and followed Clive Kent – 20.19 (9th male).
Excellent running from Michelle Farlow – 22.37 winning the ladies race followed by Vicki Lowe – 22.58 (3rd place) and Liz Goodbourn – 23.43 (v50 winner). Ladies Striders were triumphant again winning the ladies team for the third time in this series (one more to go ladies). Great support from Jenny Kent cheering us all on. [Vicki]
