Headtorch runs schedule

For those having withdrawal symptoms from our summer outrun season coming to an end, there is hope….  Headtorch runs are nearly here!  For those new to this, the runs follow a similar format to summer outruns – just in the dark (so headtorches, sensible clothing and footwear for whatever the weather throws at us are needed).  As we know these don’t suit everyone, they are only ever in addition to our usual road run in Melton.  This year’s schedule is below:

  • 5th October – Stathern, Red Lion
  • 19th October – Hambleton Peninsula (followed by Grainstore)
  • 9th November – Scalford, Kings Arms
  • 30th November – Melton Sports Village
  • 21st December – Hose, Rose and Crown
  • 11th January – Curry Run, Cafe Mash, Burton on the Wolds
  • 1st February – Old Dalby, Belvoir Brewery
  • 22nd February – Somerby, Stilton Cheese Inn
  • 15th March – Ab Kettleby, Sugar Loaf

Curry run – Weds 27th Jan

Next Wednesday 27th Jan at 7pm is the Striders Curry run from Café Mash in Burton on the Wolds. It is a head torch run… but suitable for everyone. It’s a lovely flat (ish) 5 mile course with some road, woods and fields.  The route is here.

Last year we had a lot of first time head torch runners and they all enjoyed it… so come and give it a go. Just watch out for the mud!

We’ve got an amazing deal again from Café Mash there going to sort us out a great menu with loads of different dishes all for just £12 pp.

So tell all your running friends and get them down there!!
We need to know rough numbers so let us know if you’re coming in advance please.

Also, let us know if you need to borrow a head torch and we can find a spare.

As ever, there will still be the option of a road run in Melton – usual time and place (7pm, KE7 Sports Centre).

Autumn/winter club runs

Autumn is here, so for the first time in a while we have a choice of club runs this Wednesday (30th Sep) – both at 7pm.

The usual road run will be in Melton from KE7 Sports Centre, suitable for all (with a guided 5 mile group at the pace of the slowest, as well as lots of optional extensions for quicker runners).

For the more adventurous we have the return of our headtorch runs – an hour in Stathern Woods, returning to the Red Lion for refreshments afterwards.  Head (or hand held) torches mandatory – let us know in advance if you want to borrow one – trail shoes and hi viz / reflective kit highly recommended.

The choice is yours!
