Out and Back from the Plough at Hickling – 31st May

A great turnout on a warm summers evening for the out and back run from the Plough Inn, a lovely location with a canal basin and fishing areas with a hard-pack gravel track suitable for road shoes.

Welcome to new Stilton Striders
A few new members also came, so it was awesome to welcome those and we hope they had a great run.

What’s an out and back, you may ask?
In this case, we ran out from the Plough Inn. When the clock hands have turned 30 minutes, about-turn, and head back. The idea is to make it back before another 30 minutes have passed. A great test of pacing. If runners go out too hard, they may not quite make it back in time. Too easy and they realise there was a little more distance to be had. How did we fair?

Inspiring efforts
Everyone made it in around the hour mark, so great pacing was acheived and people put in real hard efforts in the heat with a high pollen count, which can be tough on the breathing! A bit of refreshment at the Plough Inn was appreciated!

Thanks Ian and Simon
Thanks to Ian and Simon for organising, helping out with a bit of encouragement and holding the gates.
