Jane Bishop

It is with great sadness that we pass on news of the recent death of Jane Bishop. Along with husband Jim, she played a key role through the early years of our club and was also a great runner – holding club records over a number of distances to this day. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her – please see the personal message from Di Underwood below:

——–

I can’t let the very sad passing of Jane Bishop without saying a few words. Jane was the consument athlete, but at the same time one of life’s really nice ladies.

She was a demon in a race never giving up till crossing the finishing line, however never failed to run back to encourage her fellow team mates, it was the only time I ever saw her face in a race. She would always find time to give me words of encouragement and advice before the race, and support when I had a bad run.

I will always remember her on Sunday long runs running at a pace that was suitable for all the girls and not just for her, but I always knew when the end of the run was near, because she would always up the pace.

She never gave up on her running only when she had too, and when I last saw her in March she was more interested in what the juniors were doing than what she was going through, which showed the type of lady she was.

Rest in peace Jane you were one of the best.
